Tributes
  1. Ronn was a quintessential Aussie. Loyal to the ABC, his beloved Pies and an avid sports fan. A wonderful family man and country boy at heart. We will no longer be going into Salvos searching out tins for his collection. We will miss his chuckle. Our love to our dear Sandy and all their beloved family.

  4. Oh Ronn, A true blue Aussie bloke. What you saw is what you got with Ronn. No BS. I loved your laugh, our conversations and your humour. You had so many friends from your time at the ABC and I’m privileged to call myself one of them. We shared good times and the not so good times at Ripponlea. You were always there to give support or to have a laugh.
Your family and Collingwood were your greatest loves. I send all my love to Sandy and all the families at this sad time. I wish you could have stayed longer Ronn. Taken too soon.
    I’ll miss you.

  5. Ronnie,
You’ve touched and impacted my life in such a meaningful and special way for over 35 years, my dear friend. It’s so hard trying to reconcile in my mind that you’re no longer with us. Thank you for your love and humour and faithful friendship over many, many treasured years!
I’ll even allow your beloved ‘Magpies’ to beat my Tigers tonight, if it means sending you off in the style and fanfare that you so richly deserve! Rest now peacefully, mate.
Dearest Sandy, Tara, Liam and your beautiful family…I come alongside and stand with you in grief, love, support and deepest sympathies during this sad and difficult time. May God’s comfort and help rest upon you all, to see you through this!
    Kindest regards,

  6. Dear Sandy and family,
Our deepest sympathy to you all. Still have yet to find a better rendition of Danny Boy than the one delivered by Ronn on your wedding day. Our thoughts are with you all.

  7. Ronn, I’ve been rocked by the news of your passing. You were there at the beginning of my time at the ABC – Mail, Despatch & Transport St James building, then out to Radio Australia at Burwood..before we arrived at Ripponlea, but then in different departments. Oh my the times we had, the pranks, jokes… the footy talk – our team Collingwood.. how proud you were when Tara was born, then Liam. Both you & Sandy would often be Leongatha seeing family. It’s lovely to know you retired there.. Ronn you were so good at being a “shit stirrer” you loved to watch how it would all unfold. Rubbing your hands with a grin on your face.. My sincere condolences to Sandy, Tara, Liam & families . A most respected & loved man – Love, Light & Angel Blessings – Gaylene Thompson

  12. Saddened to her the news of Ronn’s passing. He was a humble man (when he wasn’t talking about Collingwood anyway) with a great sense of humour. He was an ABC stalwart who had time for everyone, and was generous with his knowledge.
Rest in peace Ronn and much love to your family.

  14. Dear Sandy, Tara, Liam and family, we were very sad to hear of Ron’s passing. He was a gentle and kind man who loved his family and his special grandchildren Airlie and Fletcher. We loved his massive collection of tins and the passion he had for collecting them. Every time we walked into an antique shop we checked out the tins Ronn might not have. Tins now will always remind us of Ronn.
The tin on the coffin brought a smile to our faces.
Love to you all Deidre and Owen.
