Our memories of Bob are from Yarrawonga golf trips. The stories he told were legendary. The funniest thing we ever saw was Bob dressed up as a parrot and together with Dave did an impromptu comedy show. Everyone laughed so hard that we cried. Goodbye to a very funny man with a heart of gold. Julie and Brian Dewar 🌹🌹May 31, 2020

Bob was very welcoming to us when we moved into the area
Always polite and we enjoyed his humor whilst visiting us at Kats Korner. May he rest in peace.
You could always get a laugh out of Bob – Many fond memories – from drinks at the RSL in the corner to him wanting me to “smuggle” him out of Woorayl Lodge.June 1, 2020
I’ve known Bob since I was a kid going into Hughes brothers shop with Mum, since then I have known him to be a very caring person, who always enjoyed a chat. He was a true character, and I’ve seen him getting everyone in the Doctor’s waiting room laughing. I will miss him badly on the golf course. He was a good friend to Andy and Lesley Hunt (Both Dec) . Sincere condolences to the family. Darryl & Judy Hunt.June 1, 2020

I was a school friend of Bob’s at the Leongatha High School where the sports master Ivan Nicholas ran a boxing event and Bob & I were drawn to fight each other, Bob, in the red corner was introduced and “Spider” because of the way he danced around the boxing ring. This nick name was with Bob for the rest of his life. when Bob joined me at Caulfield Grammar School as a boarder i introduced him as “Spider”.June 5, 2020
My sincere condolences to the Hughes family, Bob made the world a happier place.
Working with Bob in his shop at the railway ramp was a unique experience. To me, as a teenager, Bob was a charismatic person full of fun and with a genuine interest in all people he knew.
Condolences to the family.
