  7. Norma thanks for your warmth that you showed my sister Joan and I. We learnt from you lots of family history. My heart goes out to the entire Shugg family. May cherished memories of Norma bring comfort and peace in the days ahead.
What I’ll remember most about Norma is her heart — generous, courageous, and full of love. She gave so much to this world and asked for so little in return. love from the “Hooper families”

  9. Dear, Renee, Brenden, Ashleigh and families

It was such a shock to see Norma one Tuesday and have her gone the next. But so glad I got to be with her in this difficult time and pray with her. Dear Ashleigh you put so so much into Norma’s life this past year, a huge commitment to your mother in law, showing your great love toward her, so unselfishly, hard as it is for you get around, but nevertheless you so selflessly did what you could for Norma. I will be praying for you as you mourn your relationship with Norma, the grandmother of your children. Now severed, but never forgotten.
Dear Renee I am also so sorry for the loss of your mum. It’s a hard thing to lose a mother, and now both the parents that nurtured you up to be the person you are. To lose both so quickly is hard, but I know the Lord will sustain you as you do life with Him and Brenden and your own girls.
To the grandchildren, I am so sorry for the loss of both of your grandparents now. But I am sure you all have many many good memories which you will treasure.
I will never forget Norma, I have pieces of her throughout my home. Her patchwork pieces will always be a reminder of her and her amazing talent.
All my love to you all at this time.

  11. To Renee, Brendan, Ashleigh and all the grandchildren, we send our love and hugs. Norma was such a strong, kind person, interested in so many things and so talented and creative. I remember when I first arrived in Australia and she took me under her wing as I became accustomed to life on the farm. Then, in later years, when our family were able to visit, she was always the most fantastic hostess and looked after our every need. We so wish we could all be with you to celebrate her life and to send her on her way to be with Rob, but we will be there in spirit. With love, Kim, Barry and all the family.

  13. Norma was such a warm and caring lady, I only knew her for a relatively short time through the choir in which we both sang. She would come to our rehearsals even when she was very unwell, because of the happiness she derived from singing.

During our conversations towards the end of her life, we talked of her deep faith and her acceptance of the outcome of her illness. I know she was looking forward to her heavenly reward and her reunion with Robert.

Extending deepest sympathy to Ashleigh and Renee and all her family.

Rest in perfect peace dear Norma.

  16. I came to know Norma when she & Robert moved into the crt in Bairnsdale. It quickly became obvious we shared many interest-gardening was a constant subject which we never grew tied of. Loving craft enticed Norma to join our sewing group. Norma & I along with another close friend took turns in putting on an afternoon tea-this was so enjoyable & conversation flowed freely.
Norma was so caring, outgoing, so likeable & she had a calmness about her.
I will deeply miss having Norma in my life.

  18. The East Gippsland Visitor Services team offer their condolences to Norma’s family.
Norma was one of our most creative local makers (artist) providing not just us with the amusement of her imagination but also that of our many visitors who purchased her unique pieces of work. Norma’s devotion to needlecraft came from her mother. To us she was noted for her ‘exotic’ tea cosies, particularly her aptly named chooks!! Her other work also created amusement for us with the spooky dolls and seaside inspired creations for our Lakes Entrance centre.
When we learnt of her dairy farming background the images of the farm kitchen came up thinking of the endless pots of concoctions on the wood fired stove, the aroma of freshly baked goodies and a table covered in her magical creations.
Norma will always be remembered by our team with great affection.
    Keep up the needlework Norma.

  21. Dear Norma, my friendship with you through KYB and the CWCI Committee gave me courage to do things I’d never done before; didn’t know I could co-write and perform skits, didn’t know I could address or sing to an audience, didn’t know I could laugh so much about silly things or be so serious about the intricacies’ of the Christian Faith. You are gone too soon and there was still much you wanted to do. Rest in Glory with Jesus ’till I see you again my friend. XOXO Glenice Haslett, Tambo Upper.

  24. To Renee, Ashleigh and families.

Wishing I could have been there today,
I’m still in shock with how quickly everything happened with Aunty Norma. She was a strong, stoic, woman much like Nana Shugg.

We were so sad that she missed my own mother’s passing by an hour, she came back to my house and we shared memories of all the sisters.

I was telling Norma that My mum( Diana) had a lovely quilted little blanket on her bed at the hospital. I told the nurses that her sister Norma had made the blanket and they ensured it was with her always. When I showed Aunty Norma a photo of said quilt she said “I did not make that- I would not put my name to that. It’s horrid”
We still laugh about this now.

I know that all the sisters are up there with Nana Shugg and they are all at peace. Sending love to you all.
