October 6, 2026It was such sad news to hear that Lorrae had passed away so suddenly. She was a beautiful friend who brought warmth, kindness and generosity to our lives. Always up for an extra long chat with a cup of tea, never forgetting to bring her sense of humour to the table. A genuine friend to all who knew her. Her love of family and the deep concern for others were what made her uniquely, Lorrae. Her sense of compassion, ability to listen, infectious smile and lively conversations on all and any topic will be terribly missed. Our hearts break for all who new her, especially Lorrae’s family. A truely beautiful woman, teacher and mentor.

October 7, 2026My deepest condolences to Lorrae’s family in this very difficult time.
Lorrae, you weren’t just a teacher, but a role model. I feel so very lucky to have been one of your many students. You had played a big role in my early schooling. As one of the very few Kiwi kids at school back then, I was often singled out and bullied very heavily right from Prep. I was excluded because of my accent, and provoked to retaliate. You were my biggest advocate. You saw in me what others didn’t, therefore you made me feel truly seen and listened to. You took me under your wing, and with that you saw my potential in literacy. You gave me an outlet- reading and writing. You showed me how to turn my big feelings into something beautiful on paper. I will be forever grateful for having you in my corner. Your smile could brighten a whole room and you had such a gift for teaching. I will miss bumping into you and Duncan, the banter over who is my favourite teacher.
With love,

Frank MannuzzaLorrae, you became a wonderful , lifelong partner and soul-mate for Duncan, but to me, and my children you were the most empathetic, caring and genuinely beautiful person. Your zest for life, love of learning and great conversations about politics and the world in general will never be forgotten. I could talk to you about anything…no judgement. And you even admired the badly burnt pumpkin at dinner recently! So kind. We all knew that family came first and that love was extended to my boys and their children too. Thank you for your friendship. Sending heartfelt condolences to Duncan and all of Lorrae’s family.
