Sincere condolences to Lyn, Andrew and Olivia. Fond memories of a caring teacher, dedicated supporter of south gippsland hockey, and a long time patient who was grateful for the care he recieved when he was unwell. Rest peacefully Rob.

A great colleague. Always willing to take on new challenges.I remember often the game and junk food nights. The introduction to some fantastic Indonesian food. You will be missed.

Such sad news. Rob was not only a mentor but also a dear friend throughout my teaching career. He guided me with wisdom and patience, especially in learning how to manage a class of 25 Aussie teenagers — always with respect, empathy, and deep understanding. It was incredibly challenging for someone like me, coming from a completely different Asian culture. I’m very grateful. Thank you Rob. Miss you.

Such a loss of a friend and colleague whose happy , cheerful nature I will never forget. So sorry Lyn & family.

More than just an excellent teacher,Rob was a caring and dedicated educationalist whose comprehensive commitment to secondary schooling in Leongatha will be sad missed..
His compassion and assistance to his students and colleagues was uncompromising. Alway positive, polite ,friendly and supportive his care of others was very much appreciated.

Dear Mr. Skillern,

Today, I want you to know how deeply grateful I am for everything you have been to me. You were more than a mentor — you were a father figure who guided me from the age of seventeen, shaping me into a responsible and disciplined person in society. Your wisdom, patience, and encouragement gave me the strength to face challenges and the confidence to believe in myself.

You were there through the turning points of my life, helping me find the right opportunities and make the right choices. The guidance and kindness you showed me went far beyond professional mentorship — it was genuine care, the kind that leaves a lasting mark on a person’s heart. For that, I will forever hold the highest respect, admiration, and gratitude toward you.

As you bid farewell to all of us today, I find it hard to say goodbye. You lived an exemplary life filled with love, generosity, and integrity — a life that inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing you. You were a devoted husband to your beloved Lyn, a wonderful father to Andrew and Olivia, and a proud grandfather whose warmth touched every member of your family.

Your absence will be deeply felt, not only by your family and friends but by the entire town that respected and cherished you. Your legacy will continue to live in our hearts, in the lives you touched, and in the values you stood for.
